High Density Fiber Cable

High Density Fiber Optic Cable

The new HC cable is extraordinary. There is nothing else like it. Also called high density fiber optic cable, this product is similar to loose-tube gel-filled cables, as it utilizes 245um fibers as opposed to 900um tight buffered fibers. This high density fiber cable requires breakout kits, in the form of special 12 fiber fan-out kits and a fiber stripper/slitter to terminate. HC’s water resistance characteristics surpass loose tube cables. Our high density fiber cables are available in popular strand quantities, ranging from 24 to 288 strands.

With the HC cables we take the 245um fibers and encapsulate them within a tight buffer. Easily prepared for termination, HC cables feature the smallest outer diameter within the industry and still retain rugged characteristics: lightweight, flexible, and easy to work with and at a crush rating of 1800 N/cm and a flex rating of 2,000 cycles! Designed for optimum durability, we have the right high density fiber cable (or high density fiber optic cable) for any network or electrical professional – including you.

The OFNR designation can impact your high density fiber cable selection. Optical Fiber Nonconductive Riser (OFNR) is a type of optical fiber cable. As designated by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), this name is used for interior fiber-optic cables which contain no electrically conductive components, and which are certified for use in riser applications. They are engineered to prevent the spread of fire from floor to floor in a building. Typically they are tested for compliance with ANSI/UL 1666-1997, standard test for flame propagation height of electrical and optical-fiber cable installed vertically in shafts (NFPA NEC 2005 Art 770.51(B) FPN). These OFNR cables have different characteristics from Optical Fiber Nonconductive Plenum (OFNP), and general-purpose optical cable. Please note, OFNR cables are not designed for installation in plenum areas since they do not have the required fire and smoking rating as Plenum rated cables. OFNP plenum cables can be used as substitutes for OFNR cables.
