Multimode OM4 Fiber Patch Cables

Fiber Optic Patch Cords are short-distance fiber optic cables capped with connectors at both ends in order to facilitate the connection between devices within a limited distance. Fiber Patch Cables are commonly used with patch panels, optical switches, and/or telco equipment. There are different types of fiber employed, such as single-mode and multimode variations. Available connectors are LC, SC, or ST with PC, UPC, and APC polish types.
Multimode OM4 fiber patch cables are a type of optical fiber cable used in high-speed data transmission applications. They are designed to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) and 40 Gigabit Ethernet (40GbE) over distances of up to 550 meters. OM4 cables are also backwards compatible with older 100BASE-FX and 1000BASE-SX applications.
OM4 cables are constructed with a 50/125 micron core/cladding ratio, which means that the core is 50 microns in diameter and the cladding is 125 microns in diameter. The core is made of a glass material that has a higher refractive index than the cladding, which allows light to be transmitted through the cable by total internal reflection.
